Sports insurance is not just for professional athletes. It is a type of insurance policy that can be taken out by individuals who participate in amateur sporting events. Parents of children who play on sports teams, clubs, or fraternal organizations that offer sports activities can use it. It is also available for people who intend to engage in a sports-related activity during their vacation or at a festival.
Sports Insurance policies differ depending on who is taking out the policy. A sports insurance policy should include accident insurance in case a player or a volunteer is injured. Should someone get injured during an activity, the policy will cover their medical care costs. A good Sports Insurance policy should also include general liability, professional liability (if instruction is involved, e.g. a yoga class, summer coaching program, etc.), damages to premises rented, sexual abuse/molestation coverage and legal liability to participants as part of their sports insurance. This protects the park district in case a spectator or player is injured and decides to sue the park district for negligence.
